Wimbledon Final 2015 – The Report
The Wimbledon 2015 final was one of the most dramatic yet since the tournament began in 1887. It consisted of the two most prestigious male tennis players in the world battling it out for their name to be added (not for the first time) to the esteemed wall that occupies the names of many tennis greats like Boris Becker, Björn Borg, and Pete Sampras.
The first set was a thriller and Federer started off the final with a full game without Djokovic winning a point. The pressure was on for Federer in this final, because if he won it, he would have the won the most Wimbledon grand slams out of any male tennis player ever. Federer earned himself two set points in this set but Djokovic levelled it up at 6-6. The first set was to go to a tie break. At the break of the tie break, Djokovic was 5-1 up and Federer had some work to do. However, Djokovic came back on centre court and played two outstanding shots to win the set 7-1 from the tie break.
The second set was just as good with many phenomenal shots played by the two finalists. The pressure was on though and it was seen by the viewers when an easy-to-return drop shot from Federer created an unforced error from Djokovic. This set was also destined to go to a tie break and world number one Djokovic was at it again. He earned a set point at 6-3, but an exceptional come back from the Swiss number two won him the set to level it up at one all.
We went to set number three and the world number one was really going for it this time. An amazing third set put him 2-1 up, winning the set 6-4, breaking Federer’s serve to be one set away from Wimbledon glory.
In the fourth set, Novak carried on with is rampage, destroying Federer 5-3 by the break. He was one game away from winning and with his experienced coach Boris Becker in the crowd, he broke Federer’s server one more time to achieve glory at Wimbledon! Better luck next time Roger…
