Photography

Photographs and images are the lifeblood of our magazine and we’re always on the look-out for new artistic talent.

If you’ve never done more than take snap-shots on your mobile – don’t worry! We have some very good digital cameras we can lend you and also run a beginners course in digital photography. With our help you can gain confidence and learn the basics of taking dynamic pictures.

For those of you who have already done some photography, we occasionally run more advanced courses with professional photographers working in fields such as local news or weddings, who can help take your craft to the next level.

“Back in 2008 I headed to a job fair where I met Polly who told me all about VOXX and shortly after I wrote my first article.

I took on a charity shop challenge where I had to buy a full outfit for £20. Using my sister as a model we formed a mini fashion shoot; it was so much fun and felt great to see my images published. I’ve done a similar piece and had one of my photos on the front cover. I have also done a photo shoot with local actor Thomas Turgoose and took part in the interview with him.

VOXX has allowed me to get work published and carry on with a hobby I love. It’s a relaxed and enjoyable way to volunteer as well as a way to voice your opinion or show off your talents.”
