Mortal Kombat 11
After the excellent fighting game that was ‘Injustice 2’, NetherRealm Studios are now back again with ‘Mortal Kombat 11’, the next in this timeless series.
Once again the story mode makes a return here, which is great to see as they could have easily not bothered. And what’s more, the story mode picks up directly where ‘Mortal Kombat X’ left off, and it is honestly so much better as we see the return of fan favourite characters.
A new mode called Towers of Time is also present, requiring you to fight your way through a series of towers to obtain a particular piece of customization. Which leads me to the most disappointing part of the game… None of your fighters are fully customizable, having a mere three gear items for you to choose from along with a shader that can change the colour of their clothes.
However, this can be forgiven as the Krypt also makes a return, and it’s even better this time round. Though having said that, there are three different types of currency – koins, souls and hearts – and the hearts in particular are extremely hard to come by, making the experience a little grindy. The items available are also completely random, meaning all your customization items could be for characters you don’t even play, which can be disappointing.
All in all ‘MK11’ is a fantastic fighter which looks great and plays brilliantly, but unfortunately it has too many disappointments to become my new go-to fighting game.
