I’m a Fossil
It’s November again! The month where most of us look back and realise how quickly the year went. Diego’s had a huge growth spurt over the last couple of months too – just to rub it in that he’s not a baby anymore! But he has been keeping me entertained this month as always.
I will give you a few examples. He absolutely loves my long hair – because it looks like slime. I’m really, really huge like a giant (I’m 5 ft 3), he loves my new makeup blush because I look sick without it on… and he’s been learning about fossils, precisely that they are really old so apparently that means I’m a fossil. Finally, he finished it off by explaining to me that the reason he takes so long to eat compared to me is not that he is slow but that I am greedy. With Christmas around the corner, he hasn’t seen anything yet. Just wait until he sees how greedy I can be when the Christmas chocolates come out!
On a serious note, I love looking back over the year and reminiscing about achievements and memories. I have a glass jar full of sticky note moments to read. Every year is important and I intend to make time to look back and appreciate it. I also love reading back the things Diego has said. Children are adorable and I love the way Diego views me. I see myself as an anxious single mum, crawling my way through life. Yet to him, I’m a food-loving giant with slimy hair who gives cuddles on request. It’s easy to put yourself down, it’s the easiest thing in the world, but to someone else, you ARE their world. Or at least, as giant as their world!
