Grimsby Pride 2014
Grimsby Pride 2014 was at Meridian Park on the 30th of August 2014. Various artists attended and performed live on stage including Bears Aloud and Stolen Identity. A few individuals took part in a live Ice Bucket Challenge in front of the crowd.
Grimsby Pride is to raise awareness for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community (or LGBT for short). The staff made sure that everyone was OK and made sure the environment was safe for everyone. There were a few married heterosexual couples who came to show support.
As it was my first time attending and despite being on my own, I unexpectedly enjoyed every second of it. It did seem worrying at first due to attending alone but I enjoyed the time I had spent at the event. I am hoping to be more prepared for Grimsby Pride in 2015.
The weather was good. It wasn’t too hot and wasn’t too cold. The sun was out which was nice but the wind cooled it down a bit. Hopefully, the weather for Grimsby Pride in 2015 will also be good.
There were a variety of stalls at the event ranging from a snack stall to souvenirs to community groups. I bought a few souvenirs from the souvenir stall: a small version of the LGBT flag (the Rainbow flag) and a wrist band.
Overall, I enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone who is considering or is thinking about attending. It is fun. The choice of music was interesting but was good. The stalls were relevant and were useful as it was a warm day. I feel they did a good job maintaining the event and making sure everyone who attended the event were safe and happy.
