5 Reasons to Invest in the Nintendo Switch this Year
While it’s been released for a while now, the Nintendo Switch is still, in a way, a whole new console that has yet to reach its full potential. However, that’s not to say it’s not taken huge strides in the right direction in its year on the market. What makes the Switch so great, as with any Nintendo console, is that it’s just plain fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Here are some of the reasons you should take a break from your other consoles or take your mobile gaming to the next level, and switch over to Nintendo’s hybrid gem…
1. Xenoblade Chronicles 2
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild enchants everyone who lays eyes on it, but it’s not the only great fantasy RPG out there. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a phenomenal game, though you should be willing to do a bit of level grinding from time to time, and its characters are strangely loveable. There is an engaging main story and plenty of side quests, while the cutscenes are beautifully executed to make it look altogether so stylish!
2. It’s the home of Mario
Mario is Nintendo’s main unique selling point, and Super Mario Odyssey is one of those games that is just plain addictive and entertaining, and in which every world been very well thought out. And with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Mario Kart 8 added to the mix, the ex-plumber is already showing himself off.
3. You get the best of both worlds
Some games, such as Zelda, are clearly made for the big screen, and graphically, they are very impressive compared with past Nintendo titles. However, if you have to pop off somewhere and simply can’t stop playing, you can simply lift your console off its dock and continue playing in handheld mode. Both ways work great, allowing you much more flexibility.
4. Indie games
The Switch is fast becoming a leading platform in Indie gaming. Granted, Steam has the same kinds of games that are often cheaper if they happen to pop up in a sale, but computers can be temperamental and you have to have all the latest updates to play even simple games these days. The Switch has thought of all of that for you, and you already have a controller without having to invest in one that’s compatible with your laptop.
5. An exciting future
Yes, a Pokemon game will be released on Switch. Yes, Animal Crossing and a new mainline Fire Emblem title will come to Switch. This could be the time to invest yourself in the franchises that have dominated Nintendo over the years, in all their stunning visual and technical glory.
